Abstract

Surveys the content of orthodox classical monetary theory mainly as expounded by W. Bagehot, W. S. Jevons, and J. S. Mill. It deals in turn with the quantity theory of money, the credit cycle, money, interest rates and forced saving, international monetary issues, and the theory of monetary policy, as they were dealt with by these authors.
