Abstract

The regional data in Japan and the US reveal a negative association between inflation and the speed of aging, while exhibiting statistically weak and non-robust correlation between inflation and the degree of aging or population growth. These results call for further analysis of the transitional dynamics of demographic change and its effects on inflation, distinct from the degrees of aging.
